Mike Brooke

Mike Brooke, RN, Cert Sp. Inj., MBA (Macq), MAICD
Director, Outcome Services

With a background in spinal injuries rehabilitation, senior management in R & D / medical device manufacturing and health research, Mike’s research interests are in improving the delivery of healthcare services and understanding where health system redesign can better meet consumer needs.

Mike has worked extensively in Australasia and Europe in evaluating service performance – an ongoing passion is examining the interaction effectiveness between Australian primary care, allied health and hospital services through the experiences of consumers.  As we become “patients”, our ability to successfully navigate health systems varies considerably. Even when we are confident and adapt easily, inefficient service interfaces, cultural barriers and poor integration can add unexpected access barriers and “holes” to challenge our healthcare journeys.

With a firm belief that better service design and value can always be found through understanding consumer needs, Mike has taught MBA students since 2000 and regularly applies research insights in moderating Master of Public Health students at Sydney University as well as sessional lecturing at The University of Melbourne, teaching an unashamedly health-centric version of a Masters subject titled: Managing for Value Creation.
